Lady Captain's Day

The sun shone, the prosecco flowed and the balls ran on a well presented course. Lady Captain's smile was ever present as the ladies competed for the Marie Pook Trophy, but in the humid heat it was quite tough to keep concentration levels up. However, winner was Karen Pennington who managed to negotiate her way around the course with a fine 39 points, with Sue Kendrick a close second with 36 points and Celia Berent coming third with 34 points. The prizes were lovely, a great selection of handbags and scarves to suit all tastes, and Lady Captain generously gave every player a little gift and a printed congratulatory ball. Longest drive was Wendy Rule and nearest the pins were Karen and Gwyn Holt. Lady Captain thanked those who had helped her on the day (Jean Walker for the table plan, Margaret Sumner for the table flowers and Julie Ricketts and Sue Kendrick for sorting the cards. Thanks too to Matt, Duncan, Andrea, Jenny and the serving team for a tasty meal.
