Club Trip 2005

The 2005 Vice Captain's trip took us to Leyland. Fodder amazed us with a fantastic deal involving the coach, full English breakfast, 27 holes of golf, lunch and three course dinner all for £40. Well, Fodder's maths was always slightly suspect at school, and he realised he'd made a;minor miscalculation and had to request further funds from the record 48 members who went !
It was well worth it, an excellent day blessed with warm sunshine, a very tidy course which wasn't too difficult and a very nice clubhouse. It was also good to see Colin Burgess, our former Pro, and his wife Laura. They are really doing well at Leyland, and Colin made a brief appearance during the meal to say a few words and present the Captain with a copy of Leyland's club history - a nice gesture.
As for the golf, the morning betterball was won by Josh Price and Dave Swindells. The afternoon saw a superb round of golf from Dave Austin. He was out in 4 under par, helped by holing his bunker shot on the second hole for the second time in the day ! He completed a gross 68, 2 under, for 40 points to win by two from Glen Swindells. And the Pro seemed totally underwhelmed with his prize....a petrol blue golf cap !

Paul Penney managed to rack up 5 points on the 7th hole by sinking an outrageous second shot from the 'Marlborough Country'

Steady on Glen........
