Stella Watson Trophy 2003

AEGC hosted the Cheshire County Ladies Golf Association's Stella Watson Trophy on Friday 29th August, 2003. This is a girl's handicap championship event, and attracted girls from across Cheshire. The winning score was 78-10=68, and everyone was impressed with the quality of golf produced by Cheshire's young girls. Evidently the course and the club in general received a very positive response from the officials and players.

A very welcome visitor on the day was an old friend of Alderley, Elizabeth Pook [nee Chadwick]. Elizabeth was the pre-eminent lady golfer of the mid-sixties, winning back-to-back British Ladies Amateur Championships. As a former member of Bramall Park she would not doubt have been delighted that the winner hails from the same club. Elizabeth once shot a gross 68 at Alderley...off the mens' tees !
