The first round of the Simister Cup took place in mixed weather with the early starters experiencing rain that very nearly resulted in the cancellation of the competition. Fortunately the rain subsided and the weather cleared resulting in some excellent scores in both the morning and the afternoon. Two rounds stood out from the morning round with new member, Max Engels, scoring 38 points which included 8 birdies (including 4 two's!). However even this was pipped by Tim Hoare coming in with an excellent 39 points to be the winner in the club house for the majority of the day. However, just as Tim was thinking about his winners speech a very relaxed Zak Penny walked off the course to post a magnificent 41 points playing with the Captain and Luke Foden who also posted 38 points. Who said youth is wasted on the young!
Congratulations to Zak and all the above mentioned for a great and close run competition. Zak is pictured with the Captain accepting his prize.
