Centenary Trophy

A fine turn out of nearly sixty members competed for the honour of winning The Centenary Trophy, the summer mixed Major Board competition. Tales of close shaved putts and lost balls were shared in the spike bar, but one of the ladies obviously avoided too many of these to record a score of 39 points and come in as winner for her first Board Competition.

Congratulations to Julie Ricketts, who now sees her handicap drop by three shots! Second place went to Dave Lee with 37 points, who also went home a little richer due to having a two...well done Dave. Third place went to Tom Lawton, playing off scratch, with a creditable 37 points on a count back.

Thanks were extended to Lady President Jean Walker for effectively publicising the competition, the Professional, Charles Le Sueur for setting up the prize table and for Liz McGuire and Alison Roberts for doing the cards.

It was a shame that more participants did not come along to the presentation to support Mr Captain and congratulate the winners, however, Mr Captain appreciated the presence of those who were there!

The next mixed event is the informal Sunday competition on July 12th
