Winter Rules – including Fairway Mats, from Sunday 22 Oct
Following the recent weather, the condition of the course is such that we need to move to protection mode as soon as possible. We are, therefore, moving to full winter rules as from Sunday, 22nd October.
The full rules can be read on the website click here: LOCAL RULES
They will also be posted upon the club noticeboards. Briefly, they are as follows:
1. Players MUST choose one of the following options when playing their shot:
• lift, clean and place onto a fairway mat when playing a ball on the fairway or
• place their ball in the nearest rough and play from there or
• use a putter
2. Where there is mud on a ball in the rough, the player may lift and clean the ball but MUST DROP it back in the rough.
We are reintroducing the facility to clean mud off the ball in the rough to enable fairness across the course,
Winter mats will be available to buy at £6.50 (cost price to encourage use)

Cocktails 'n' Canvas – Friday 27th October – 7:30pm
Cocktails ‘n’ Canvas is a night out with a difference. We aim to make art and its benefits available to everyone.
Just grab yourself a drink and head over to your easel where the evenings artist will take you step by step through the painting, giving you tips and options to customise along the way. We promise that you will surprise yourself and however hidden your inner artist is, we will help you to realise your talent.
We will be painting an owl. Cost £33 plus a booking fee but you walk away with a large canvas that you have created.

Golf & Giggle plus Mixed Presentation – Sunday 15 Oct 1pm onwards
Introduce your non-golfing friend to the game with our 'Golf and a Giggle' event.
This is an Invitation to the 2023 Golf and a Giggle on Sunday 15th October 1pm start.
This is a family event, open to non members too, where the ‘golfer’ plays from tee to green and their non-golfing playing partner makes the putt.
We will conclude after a ‘shotgun’ start and 9 holes in the bar for sandwiches, some beverages and the prizegiving. This will also be the September & October monthly prize giving at 3:30 pm for all of the Ladies and Gent's prizes.
The cost for participating in this fun spectacular is just £10 each to cover the meal and the prizes.
We are definitely looking to fill the course, nurture some new golfers, and show Alderley Edge Golf Club at its very best.
A sign up sheet is now up in the clubhouse but feel free to see me in the shop or contact Mike Harding and we will add your name to the sheet, so get the date in your diary and get your ‘giggle’ on the practice green as soon as.
Kind regards,
Charles Le Sueur
