54 Hole Charity Golf Challenge and Fish and Chips Supper Friday 24 June

On Friday 24th June I am organising a 54 hole golf challenge, in order to raise money for my chosen charity this year, as Lady Captain of Alderley Edge Golf Club.

The challenge is comprised of three 18 hole rounds of golf at the club starting at 7am and finishing around 7.30pm, similar to last year’s very successful event. I am looking to get as many Gents and Ladies Section members participating in the challenge as possible, whether completing all 54 holes individually or as part of a relay team. Please sign up in the Lobby Area between the Gents and Ladies Locker Rooms to take part. Thank you.

For your information my chosen charity is Shropshire, Staffordshire and Cheshire Blood Bikes. They are run 100% by volunteers and are used to courier urgent medical items, including blood, x-rays, transplant organs, human donor milk etc across the UK. I have set up a Just Giving page for you to donate towards this charity and share with others.

If you aren’t taking part in the challenge then please come along at 7.30pm onwards on 24th June to cheer us along, whilst we complete the final few holes, as well as joining us for a Fish and Chip Supper! The more the merrier!

Your support for this event is very much appreciated.

I look forward to seeing you on 24th June.

Jubilee Texas Scramble and some Monthly Prize Presentations

The Platinum Jubilee Red, White and Blue Texas Scramble was won by Brian and Karen Pennington, ably supported by Gwyn Holt.

In traditional fashion,  the Vice President of the presentation day,  Bob Anderson,  rather hogged one of the photos with an impromptu jig.

Bob presented the Comedians Cup to Jamie McGregor and Ken Hall.

Unfortunately Josh Price, who won the two round medal Hospital Trophy, was on call and was called,  so was unable to attend.

Monthly Presentation Evening a great success

Last night AEGC hosted its first Monthly Presentation Evening for all the sections within the Golf Club.  It was superbly organised by Lady Captain, Lady President, Mr President, Seniors' Organiser and the Club Professional.

The Chairman Dave Lee opened the proceedings, outlining the format of the evening to the members and guests.  Last year’s Captain Brian Pennington then presented prizes to the Gents followed by Janette Smith to the Ladies and Charles to the Juniors.  Seniors’ Organiser Rob Sexton informed all that his Seniors’ winners had “forgotten“ who had won, and stated that the senior section was in good form.

Lady President Mary O’Toole wrapped up the evening and thanked all who attended.  Also thanks to Sam and the Bar Staff for serving the snacks and drinks on what was a very successful evening.

A selection of photos from the evening are included.  For the full list of competition winners, click here:  Competition Winners

Next Presentation Evening - Thursday 2nd June.

Best Regards

Charles Le Sueur crowned ‘Professional of the Year’

Alderley Edge Golf Club’s Head Professional Charles Le Sueur has recently been crowned ‘Professional of the Year’ at the Foremost Golf Industry Awards.  Charles was chosen for this award from 990 professionals across the UK and Ireland.

The award was presented to Charles, to display in his Pro’s shop, by Andy Martin, Managing Director of Foremost Golf Ltd.  There is a wide set of criteria for achieving this award and includes:  the quality of the shop presentation, being proactive with lessons/coaching and marketing, helping to grow club membership, golf club integration and growing golf in the community.

Charles said: “It was a bit of a shock to be even nominated let alone win the award. It’s always nice to be recognised for something you do and this has made all the work worthwhile. I would like to thank all the people who have worked on the committees at the club over the past ten years for being so supportive of what I do, and also the team at Foremost for providing me with so many initiatives to save me time and help me grow my business.”

Alderley Edge Golf Club Chairman David Lee added: “The Council at Alderley Edge GC are extremely pleased to have Charles as the club professional. He has been a great strength during the difficult times of Covid over the past couple of years and has played a vitally important role in the membership recruitment process.

“We continue to hold Charles in great esteem and the fact that he has won the Professional of The Year award is something we are extremely proud of - he is a great professional.”
