This time, the hole is played from a tee to the right, providing a slightly straighter angle into the green

“The par 3 17th is certainly Alderley's most memorable hole, and it has wrecked many promising scorecards. Played across the valley and over a steep quarry face to a green perched on top of a hillock, any shot which misses the green results in the risk of a double bogey. With a bunker to the left and two large trees to the right of the green, a chip shot has to be very precise, particularly if played downwind to a firm green in summer. The best advice is to take plenty of club, for if you miss the green you will generally find the chip shot easier from beyond the green .” - Jeremy Dixon
