Ladies Day Out

June 21st dawned a beautiful day, perfect for the Ladies annual, give or take the odd missed year, due to Covid and foul weather, exchange visit with another club.

This year 16 ladies planned to visit Bolton GC. Unfortunately one of the party was injured, so we were 15, playing in four teams, one with a ghost.

After a welcome breakfast, we played a Stableford four ball better ball, two to count, all to count on the par 3's competition. A nearest the pin, nearest the line and a putting competition completed the golf programme.

The course was in beautiful condition, the halfway house was popular for the prosecco and cake, and a good time was definitely had by all.

The day rounded off with a tasty dinner, prize giving and a golf themed quiz which was clearly set by someone with a warped sense of humour!

The winners were:

Nearest the line, Wendy Harrison

Nearest the pin, Gwyn Holt

Putting competition tied between LC Janette Smith and Julie Ricketts.

Comp winners were team B, Julie Ricketts, Fiona Anderson, Rose Ramhalo and Sue Freeman.

The feedback from the Bolton Ladies was that they had a great day out at AEGC, were made to feel very welcome, found the course tough but after a few drinks on the patio in the sunshine very welcome. They praised Sam and the team for a great job and everyone had enjoyed their day.
