This Tuesday the ladies played in the Coronation Foursomes where players go out in teams of two , playing alternate shots.
The winners with 32 points were Olwen Davies and Liz Gardner who are then entered into an area final.
Well done Olwen and Liz.
For those not wishing to play 18 holes there was a 9 hole non qualifier available for players.
On Tuesday, the ladies played their first major competition of the year. This was the Millennium Trophy which was kindly given to the ladies section by Helen Williams in 2000.
The ladies were invited back in the evening for a presentation of the trophy by Lady Captain.
The winner was Tracy Smith with a score of 35 points, closely followed by Celia Berent with 34, well done girls. Celia also won nearest the pin.
Lady Captain announced winners of previous competitions played earlier in the month.
Thank you to Lady Captain for treating us all to a complimentary drink.
Shield B Results
Another win for the Shield B team on Monday.
The team beat High Legh Park 4 matches to 3 at home. Well done girls
This week the ladies had a more relaxed game, playing a Progressive Stableford in teams of four.
The winning team was Claire, Justine, Valerie and Mo with 82 points. Well done.
For those ladies not wishing to play 18 holes, there was also a 9 hole non qualifying competition.
This was won by Terri, well played.
This coming Tuesday it is the Millenium Trophy which is our first major competition. The format is Stableford and is open to handicaps up to 45.
There will be a presentation in the evening, everyone is very welcome even if they have not played in the competition.
On Saturday we played in the first round of the Bell Cup away at Birchwood Golf Club near Warrington.
Unfortunately we lost 5-2. Thank you to the team of Celia, Janette, Marion, Sue K, Olwen, Jo and Fiona for giving up their Saturday afternoon and playing well on a difficult course.
In the Friendly match played on Monday away at Mellor and Townscliffe the team lost 2-1
Ladies Tuesday Competition
This week it was the monthly England Golf Medal which was won by Sue Kendrick with 77 points after a card play off with Lady Captain, Julie Ricketts. Olwen Davies came third with 78 points .
Fiona Anderson and Wendy Rule both got birdies on the 8th and 12th holes respectivelyy, well done.
In the 9 hole competition, Terri Broomhall had a great round scoring 22 points and knocking 2 off her handicap, well done Terri.
Next week's competition is a fun game, Progressive Stableford played in teams of 4, all the details for this are in the ladies locker room.
