Mail on Sunday

Our great run finally came to an end yesterday at Accrington where the team lost.

Well done to everyone who has been a member of the team in any of the matches, thank you for your support.

Here's to going even further next year.

Lady Captains Day 2015

Lady Captains day was blessed with fine warm weather, something of a rarity this year, and an enjoyable day was had by all participants.  The winner was Kath Goodall, second Mary O'Toole, third Madeline Kubiak and fourth Olwen Davies, nearest the pin was Wendy Rule and the winner of the nine hole competition was Muriel Adshead, second Barbara Moss and third Mary Beckett.  There was also a special prize for the lady coming last (a lesson with the professional) won by Ann Cooney.

The ladies team of Wendy, Celia, Marion, Valerie, Olwen and reserve Helen are to play their 7th round match away at Accrington on Saturday, teeing off at 2.30.

Good luck to the team.

Mr Captain's Prize

A good field of ladies went out on Tuesday, those playing in the afternoon certainly having the best weather playing in lovely sunshine.

Mr Captain treated everyone to a cooling glass of pimms after 9 holes which was very welcome.

In the evening the ladies came back for the presentation. In the absence of Lady Captain, Marion introduced Mr Captain to the ladies who were enjoying another yet another drink on behalf of the Captain.

The winner of the competition with 39 points was Wendy Rule playing off 11 but now reduced to 10.2, followed by Lisa Burns with 37 points playing off 22 and also on 37 was Marion Hall playing off 16.

The nearest the pin on the 6th was Helen Edwards and on the 13th was Lisa Burns.

Marion thanked Mr Captain for an enjoyable day and generous prizes.

Match Results

Yes it is match day and yes it is raining yet again, what happened to the summer?

Well done to the team of Wendy, Celia, Marion, Sue W, Valerie, Olwen and Lisa for beating Sandiway at home 5.5 to 1.5, a good result for our last match.

Mail on Sunday

To those who have been following the progress of the ladies team into round 7, we have been drawn to play away at Accrington. This is the furthest round we have reached, 4 years ago we were knocked out in round 6 so great playing by the ladies. The date has to be arranged but must be played by the 9/8.
