Captain's Prize to the Ladies

A grey day was brightened considerably by the great humour of the Ladies playing for the Captain's Prize on Tuesday.

Olwen Davies deservedly won the nearest the pin on the 6th, only a couple of feet from the pin.

Pam Butler won the 9-hole Stableford that was played on the same day.

In 3rd place was Sue Kendrick on a card play-off with 94-19=75.  Second was the Lady President, Valerie Hornsby, with the best gross of the day, 90-19=71.

However, the overall winner was Helen Thomson with a 96-27=69.  It was particularly impressive as Helen only received her first handicap earlier this year and is rapidly improving.  Many congratulations to Helen.

The Captain would like to thank all the Ladies who took part for making it a great day!

Daily Mail Foursomes

OLwen and Liz 's great run in the above competition came to an end on Thursday.

They had been successful by getting through into the 5th round but were finally beaten by two very steady players from Lytham.

Well done to both of you for getting so far in the competition.

9 Hole League

The ladies won their match against Heaton Moor in the 9 Hole League at Heaton Moor, 62/48 stableford points.

The team was Mary O'Toole, Julie Ricketts, Barbara Moss, Wendy Thorpe, Tracy McGregor and Sue Freeman.

The match was played against a very friendly Heaton Moor team on Thursday afternoon in very hot sultry weather and it was great to come away with a win.

Midsummer Madness

The Early Birds really did catch the worm this morning, Friday 23/6 as 12 ladies teed off at 7.30am for their annual " MIDSUMMER MADNESS"

A nine hole AmAm, won by Lady Captain's team with 45 points, rounded off by a delicious Bucks-Fizz breakfast in the club house.

A bubbly event from start to finish!

Shield Match

On a very hot Monday, the Shield team of Wendy Rule, Marion Hall, Olwen Davies, Liz McGuire, Julie Ricketts, Helen Williams and Mo Monk played away at Hazel Grove.

The match was halved which was a good result for the team.

Lady Captain's Day

The weather was dry and warm for Lady Captain's Day last Tuesday.

LC, Yvonne Grundy welcomed the ladies and watched them tee off. They then enjoyed a glass of Pimms and nibbles at the 9th hole and returned in the evening for a lovely meal and presentation - pictures uploaded 23rd June.

Olwen Davies was the winner with 36 points, Wendy Rule was second on 34 points and Anne Thornber third with 33 points just beating Alison Roberts on a card playoff.

Nearest the pin was won by Alison, nearest the line by Marion.

Mary Beckett was the ladies 9 hole winner with Eileen coming second
