Ladies & Seniors Texas Scramble

This popular event took place on Friday the 25th September with 7 teams turning out on a lovely Autumn day.

After an extremely close competition the winners were Lady and Mr Captain, Mary O'Toole and Drew Sutton. Lady President, Jean Walker presented the prizes to the winners and Drew gave an informative speech about the early years of the course which was both amusing and interesting.

Well done to everyone who competed in this very close scoring match.

Looking Smart

Here's a photo of LC Anne along with most of the Mail on Sunday team sporting the new team strip. It has been a great season, with the team progressing through to round seven, the furthest ever. The two Sues (Kendrick and Watson) were missing but their shirts are the same colour too.

Mr President's Prize

On Tuesday, the ladies played a Stableford competition for Mr President's prize, returning in the evening to enjoy a drink on behalf of Mr President.

Jean Walker, LP, introduced Mr Brian Boughey to the ladies, an active long standing member of Alderley Golf Club.

Brian spoke of his keen interest in the ladies section and despite being so small what we had achieved in recent times. He particularly mentioned the team progressing through to the 7th round of The Mail on Sunday tournament, only 2 matches away from a trip to Spain.

The results of the competition were very close with Sue Kendrick winning with 34 points after a card playoff with Sandra Smith. Lisa Burns was third with 33 points, again after a card playoff with Valerie Hornsby

Olwen Davies won nearest the pin and Celia Berent nearest the line.

In the Pink

A restrained party of Alderley Edge ladies, plus a couple of added extras enjoyed an overnighter at Hill Valley. Naturally there was much hilarity and everyone entered into the spirit by sporting as much bling and pink as they could tolerate for the competition on Monday. Awards were plentiful, with Mo scooping best overall player prize, 2nd prize in the AmAm competition with Sue Kendrick,  2nd prize in the team game (joined by Maddie, Claire and ghost Karen) and definitely most improved evening entertainer! Maddie blasted home in first place as the most ridiculously pink player, and also won the AmAm competition with visitor Di Atkinson. Both team competitions on Monday were won by Karen and Olwen with our visitors Di and Sarah Steinmann. Thanks for bringing the beautifully logo'd ball back!

Ladies Exchange Day (Picnic!) at Grange Park Golf club

We had an excellent day on a lovely golf course and the weather was not too bad -  even quite nice at times.  We were very well looked after and the food, bacon butties before playing and the meal after playing were delicious.  The winning team with 91 points was Mo Monk, Yvonne Grundy, Barbara Moss and ‘ghost’ Celia LVC.  Lady Captain’s team Marion Hall Maddie Kubiak and Celia LVC  were second with 89 points.  Nearest the line was Ann Cooney, nearest the pin was LVC Celia and the putting competition was won by Sandra Smith.

Lady Presidents Day

Sporting a large plaster on her arm, and an even larger grin, this year's Lady President Jean Walker enjoyed her day immensely despite having had an exciting accident a week or so before. Helped along by chocolate, Pimms and a pleasant day, the players and Jean's guests kept the mood happy in the clubhouse whilst members supported the 'Forever' products stall, helping to raise funds to support people affected by the recent Bosley Mill fire.

For the main prizes, LP had purchased gift vouchers for beauty and relaxing treats at a local salon, Esthetique, so there were really broad grins on the faces of Celia Berent, third, Lady Captain Anne Thornber second and first with 68 net score, Yvonne Grundy. Nearest the line was Barbara Moss and closest to the pin, Sue Watson.
