A good field of 38 teams played in this betterball pairs event .

Congratulations to the winning team (John Atkinson and Gary Buxton) who had the excellent score of 45 points .

Runners up on count back were Ron Ricketts and Matt Robinson -44 points 

Third place -Gordon Stewart and Nige Howell -44 points 

Despite playing off 85% handicaps for this format seventeen  teams scored 40 or more points .

Last night, the 9th June,  we played a Home Match against Woodside Golf Club in the 9 Hole League.

Chris Hoyland managed the whole process like clockwork, despite not playing.

• First out was Captain and Andy Wells versus their Captain and one of their better players.  We won 3 and 2 but were never down.
• Sean Hall and Logan Stanyer won their match
• Bob Anderson and Andrew Marshall won their match

• Ollie Lane and Zac Penney ......  won their match

A complete victory for Alderley winning all four matches.  Their organiser was happy to only have been beaten 2 and 1 by Zac and Ollie

Chris further impressed everyone because whilst we were knocking a white ball around the course he had been off for a couple of sets of tennis and still had time to knock up some very tasty pizzas for the players at the end.

Great weather for the June Monthly Comp.

I had the pleasure of playing with Gordon Stewart and Mark Walker and despite the sunny weather we decided to add some extra brightness with our shirts and shorts.

My round started as the score showed, badly, with my Tee shot on the first ending stuck behind a tree.

The course offered a tough test as shown by only 3 players shooting under par and 8 twos from a sheet of over 90.

Division 1 was won by Gavin Elly with 36 points after card play-offs with Michael Easton and Andrew Boyle.

Division 2 was won by Paul Short with 38 points again after a card play-off with Derek Shenton. Paul therefore takes the overall win with his score.

Both winners take prize money of £75 each in vouchers with our Professional.

There were only 8 two’s sharing £118.50, which equates to £14.81 each, the full list is attached.

 Next week is the second round of the Hospital Trophy a major with board bragging rights.  As an FYI, the handicap you had for the first round will be the same for the second round, the computer will sort it.

On the 25^th June 2021 Alderley Edge’s Captain and Lady Captain with teams of other AEGC Members will be attempting to play 54 holes of Alderley Edge Golf Club on the 25^th June 2021.

Starting at 7am and aiming to finish at 8pm where they will be greeted by Entertainment, Food, and a large drink.

AEGC Members are encouraged to turn up for the evening and join in the fun with the challengers.

The event is to support a very important Charity, Stockport MIND the regions Mental Health charity. After the pandemic, the Mental Health of the nation needs as much support as possible and any donations would be gratefully received.
