President's Putter Winner

Mr Captain congratulated Bob Anderson who won the President's Putter singles knockout.  Bob beat Andy Wells 6&4.

The Fourball Knockout will be decided this Sunday between Chris Edwards & Nigel Pugh and the current holders Luke Foden & Harrison

Club Championship Winner

Mr Captain congratulated Harrison Peck who won the Club Championship with a score of 142 (68+74).  Mike Troup came second with a score of 150 (72+78).  Mike Davies took the nett prize for Sunday's competition. 

Harold Humphreys Trophy - Saturday 24th September

The Captain thanked Jerry Dixon for donating the new Harold Humphreys Trophy and congratulated this year's winner Rick Ford who scored an excellent  nett 62 (73 - 11).

In second place on countback was Tom Troup nett 66 (75-9) with Paul Gosling third also net 66 (88-22)

Jerry Dixon reminded the members  that Harold Charles Humphreys, who was born in 1902 ,was a key member of AEGC in the early years and was a very young captain of the club at the age of 36. He was an excellent amateur golfer. Harold  started the Umbro sports business from a small space at the Bulls Head pub in Mobberley before moving to larger premises in Wilmslow.

The Captain was also able to congratulate previous winners of this competion which was introduced in the Centenary Year (2007s

Jubilee Vase - Saturday 17th September

Congratulations to Harrison Peck for winning the Jubilee Vase with a score of 39 points off a handicap of 2. Mike O'Regan came second with 38, beating Max Ekstein and Tom Troup on countback.

Yellow Ball competition Saturday 10 September 2016

At last, good weather! (quote from the Captain) - for this 4 player Stableford competition.

Half of the teams carded combined scores of 150 or more, but the clear winners were Dave Lee (President), Duncan Macpherson, Nigel Howells and Gordon Stewart with an incredible score of 176 points. This included 16 points on each of the 5th and 14th holes (i.e. the same hole on front and back nines) when all four players parred both holes.

Runners up places were:-

2nd - Matthew Hodgson, Phil Mason, Mike Troup, Tom Troup, with 167 points

3rd - Andy Wells, Gavin Elly, Dan Wright, Simon Barber, with 165 points

The President's Putter and FourBall knockouts have reached the final stage.

The President's Putter final will be between Bob Anderson and Andy Wells and the FourBall knockout between Chris Edwards & Nigel Pugh and the current holders Luke Foden and Harrison Peck.


The draw sheets for the knockouts are on the noticeboard in the men's locker room. They have been updated on 7 September.
