Bill Fisher wins the Captain's Prize

A great Captain’s week-end took place on the 21 & 22 July with Bill Fisher taking the golfing honours of the Captain’s Prize over the 2 days.

88 members played the first round with the top 40 qualifying for the second round.  Ron Ricketts came out on top in round one with a nett 64 with Bill Fisher and Ollie Lane following closely behind with nett 65’s. There were a lot of tired and hungover players taking part in the second day - Alex Pannell won the day with a nett 69.

Congratulations to Bill Fisher for consistently good scores over the 2 days to win the overall Captain’s Prize with 65-72 to beat Chris Regan by a shot.

The Captain arranged a special evening on the Saturday, with a marquee and the clubhouse decked out with a theme of “Trilbys and Tiaras” and attended by a large number of members, friends and families. Live music was provided by The Incredible Skank Brothers, an amazingly energetic ska band playing all the classics from Madness, Bad Manners and the Specials. They certainly got the clubhouse jumping.

Chris Hoyland provided a superb hog roast along with accompaniments & vegetarian option, and the catering staff were kept very busy on the night.

On the night the Captain thanked all the staff, members, friends and families who contributed to the special week-end.

AEGC wishes to thank the Captain, Simon Barber for organising such a great weekend!
