Texas Scramble Result Saturday 14th August 2021

Overall, the weather was OK for golf and everyone seemed to have a fun day.

I would like to thank Bob Pindar for being the Comp Officials on what is a more difficult day because of the way the cards are done in Texas Scramble.

I joined Neil McGuinness, Mark Walker and Tom McDermott for a great round of golf, we scored well with, even if I say so myself, an impressive Gross 63 and a net 50.8. Tom played well and we were level par on his 4 Tee Shot holes, Mark was Mr Steady and Neil had some fantastic drives allowing us the chances to get the birdies.

Now to the controversial part and the old saying of “no good deed goes unpunished”.

Some members wanted to go to the United match and still play in the competition and asked the Captain if it was possible. With Alderley Edge Golf all things are possible, and Bob Pindar agreed they could tee off at 3.40p and still put their card in after the cut-off, the Captain confirmed it was OK for them to play and everyone was happy.

Those members then turned up and shot a ridiculous 50.6 beating the Captain and his team by 0.2 of a shot to win the Texas Scramble.

The winners with the same gross of 63 but a net of 50.6 were
Shaun Price, Josh Price , Jon Lingard and Mark Hinchclifffe

Second - Mr Captain , Tom McDermott, Neil McGuinness and Mark Walker (50.8)

Third- Mark Simkins, Mike O Regan, Jamie McGregor and John Newsham (52.7)

Fourth-  Simon Barber, Neil Johnson, Charlie Hill, and Derek Shenton (52.9)

Fifth - Greg Wilmot, C Cartwright, D Thornton and S Allen (54.

Next week is the AEGC Challenge Cup Medal competition and the sheet is looking busy but there are still places.

Also, a reminder that next Friday is the Hog Roast at the club, £15 for adults and half price for kids. There will be music and a chance for some Alderley Edge Golf Club socialising, and I hope to see you there.
