Results of 9 Hole Matches
The Ladies team played the second 9 Hole League Match at Northenden on Friday morning in very wet conditions and won.
Well done Ladies and hopefully everyone managed to dry out after all the rain.
The first match was played at home on Friday 21st April against Ashton-on-Mersey who won that match.
The current points for AEGC is 0 points for home match and 3 points for an away win.
Shield B Match
On a lovely sunny but very windy day, our Shield team of Wendy, Celia, Sue, Olwen, Lisa, Helen W and Anne played away at Macclesfield.
The views were quite something, which perhaps made up for the result. Macclesfield were the better team beating us 5 matches to 2.
Thank you to everyone who played.
The Ladioes enjoyed a "Winter Warmer" at Knutsford Golf Course on Thursday 4th May. This was originally booked for February but due to bad weather conditions we had to postpon it- thankfully this time the weather was warm and sunny.
Most ladies played 18 holes and the winners were Anne Thornber, Angela Atkinson and Sue Kendrick with a huge score of 94 points. In second place was LC, Yvonne Grundy, Olwen Davies and Karen Pennington with 80 points.
A small number of ladies joined us for 9 holes, the winner was Margaret Sumner with 10 points just pipping Pam Butler with 9 points.
Nearest the pin was Anne Thornber and out driving us all on the 7th to win the longest drive was Celia Berent.
A big thank you to Alison for re arranging and organising the event although unable to play herself, and also to Anne and Ian for yet another gastronomic delight.
Business Ladies Match
The Business Ladies team, Wendy, Gwyn and Karen played the first of this season's matches at home against High Legh Park.
High Legh Park won 2 matches to 1.
Better luck next time Ladies.
Ladies Nine Hole Open/Invitation
A day including weather from all four seasons provided the backdrop for today's 'Triple Tester', the nine hole competition for lady members, their guests and visiting teams. With an opportunity for a little retail therapy from the Body Shop, Pheonix Cards and 'Lovely Pretty Things', the clubhouse buzzed with activity as people enjoyed their lunch, the homemade cakes and took a chance on the raffle. Everyone was very generous in their support of Lady Captain's charity and nearly £180 was raised for Macmillian Cancer. Of course, it was really all about the golf and a range of prizes were up for grabs.
Winners of nearest the pin were Jean Walker, 4th and Sue Freeman 6th, and the winner of the putting competition was Helen Williams. The winner of the home players only team prize was Liz McGuire, Olwen Davies and Alison Roberts, and the visiting team prize went to the Prestbury Ladies, Ali Hallworth, Sue Williamson and Jude Durrant with 35 points. Second place in the main competition went to Lisa Burns, Tessa Day (Hale) and Caroline Perkins,(Hale) with 40 points (who didn't quite manage to repeat last year's winning performance) and top place with 42 points went to Karen Pennington, Claire Roberts and Wendy Higgins (Macclesfield).
Thank you for all the ladies who helped run the event
