Mens Welcome

On behalf of all the members & staff of Alderley Edge Golf Club, may I extend a warm welcome to our Club.

The Club is 110 years old in 2017 and the course was laid out in the days when they wanted golf to be a challenge. It provides a testing, but scenic & enjoyable, layout for all abilities and age groups.

We work hard to ensure all new Members receive a warm welcome and are integrated into the Club. All Members are encouraged to play with many different people over the year. I’ve been a Member of Alderley Edge for over 30 years now, and we have many Members who’ve been here a lot longer. Ask any of them why they’re still here and they’ll all talk about the warmth of the Membership, the friends they’ve made over the years, and the crack and the banter. It’s what makes us a Club, much more than just somewhere to play golf.

The Gents, Ladies, Mixed, Juniors & Seniors all have very active competition and social programmes throughout the year. As well as formal competitions, there are Club and Senior roll-ups each week, where groups are drawn from the hat. You will always be assured of good company and a competitive game of golf whomever you put down, or are drawn, to play with.

We have an active junior section which has recently produced two young golfers who are now making their way in the professional ranks, as well as many category 1 players. It is a delight to follow their progress and I wish them every success in their future golfing careers.

We’re fortunate to have a superb Professional in Charles Le Sueur who is an excellent teaching professional and stocks a full shop catering for all needs. The indoor swing room, with all the latest state-of-the-art technology for analysing your swing, allows lessons to continue irrespective of the weather outside.

Our new House Steward, Chris Hoyland, is a single figure golfer in his own right and well understands the needs of visiting societies. His food is deservedly earning high praise, whether you’re just looking for a light lunch or an 80-seat wedding reception. The lounge is an excellent venue for functions of all kinds.

My charity for this year will be the East Cheshire Hospice. They’ve earned a high reputation for the quality of care they provided at very difficult times and are very deserving of the funds we will raise this year.

It is a great honour and privilege to be the Captain of Alderley Edge for 2017, and I look forward to welcoming you to our Club as a Member or as a Visitor.
