Let’s create a real Alderley cup final buzz.

The first Mixed Presentation evening of the season was held on Friday 5 May.  Presenting the prizes to the winners from April competitions were Captain Alex Ridgway and Lady Captain Fiona Anderson.

In the Ladies Section, congratulations to the winners of ‘Stroke and Flag’ 18 hole competition Janette Smith and Wendy Harrison.

In the Gents Section, the Monthly stableford winners were Logan Stanyer for Division 1 and Jonathan Donahue for Division 2, who both sent their apologies and the Simister Cup winner Steve Smith. Texas Scramble winners were Greg Wilmott, Simon Allen, Christian Cartwright and Alex Pannell.  Prizes were accepted for the team by Simon and Christian. Progressive stableford winners accepting their prizes ; Derek Shenton, Steve Boyd, Ken Hall and Bob Anderson.

The next Mixed Presentation evening is on Friday 2 June.

I am pleased to let you know that the 1st 250 Club draw of 2023 was held on Saturday 25 March in the clubhouse following Opening Sides.

Congratulations to the four lucky winners, as follows:

• 1st Prize (£400) – Gwyn Holt
• 2nd Prize (£200) – Brian Foden
• 3rd Prize (£100) – Andy Slater
• 4th Prize (£50) – Oliver Towle

At present, we have just over 100 members of the 250 Club. Nevertheless, we are always looking for more people to join as every contribution goes a long way to supporting the Club. Each number costs only £5 per month, paid via monthly direct debit or standing order; a 250 Club Application Form is available if you would like to join.

We have four draws a year (roughly one every 3 months), with half of all proceeds going towards Club funds and the other half shared out in prizes. If 100 members all pay £15 over 3 months, it would give us £1,500 in the pot for the next draw. £750 of this would go towards Club funds whilst the rest is split between the four winners.

The 250 Club is a really great way of getting members up to the Club for the draw and supporting, in some small way, the future of Alderley Edge Golf Club.

The final Mixed Presentation evening is taking place this Friday, 7th October, at 7pm in the Clubhouse.

As it is late in the season, there will be the usual Friday mixed competition during the day rather than a special late afternoon event.

There will be nibbles available and Kate & Steve can provide the usual club menu for anyone who wants something more substantial.

We are looking forward to all winners attending, if possible, so please come along and cheer them all.  It might be you next year.

Friday 5 August was the latest Monthly Presentation Evening covering July and early August competitions for Gents and Ladies Sections.

The prizes for competition winners were presented by last year’s Captain Brian Pennington, Lady President Mary O’Toole and Club Professional Charles Le Sueur.
