Seniors and Wives Lunch

Thursday brought the annual Seniors and Wives Lunch. In a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, a delicious 3 course meal was enjoyed.

A humerous speech extolling the virtues of wives was given by Graham Davies, after which Lady Captain thanked the Honorary member and Lady President, Margaret and Graham Sumner for organising the event.

A very enjoyable end of season tradition. Long may it continue.

Lady Captain's Charity Match

Friday 28th September saw 9 team of ladies and seniors going out in 3's to play in Lady Captain's charity match to raise money for Kidney Research UK

The weather was perfect and the feeling was relaxed and fun. Following the golf, the teams came in for tea and cake, after which the remaining cakes were sold to take home.

Nearly as much money was raised by the cakes as by the golf, which just proves everyone loves cake nearly as much as golf as not one slice of cake remained.

The resounding winners with a terrific score of 43 points were Tracy McGregor, Jo Pratt and Sarah Dwyer who received M&S vouchers.

What a very enjoyable day raising money for a worthy cause. Thanks go to all the people who took part, the ladies who assisted with organising the day and the ladies who baked the absolutely delicious cakes.

Mr President's Prize

22 ladies went out to play in the last Major competition of the season, Mr President's Prize, which was a stableford.

Although windy, it was warm and apart from a brief spell of rain, most of the ladies stayed dry.

The players returned in the evening for the presentation by Mr President, Rick Ford. It was a very relaxed and enjoyable evening made even better by the free drink from Mr President.

In third place with a score of 30 points was Olwen Davies, in second place was Celia Berent with 32 points but the winner with a score of 37 points and a handicap reduction of 2 points, was Lady Captain, Mary O'Toole.

Nearest the line on the 3rd was won by Barbara Moss and nearest the pin on the 6th was won by Wendy Rule.

Thanks go to Mr President for a very nice day.

Leigh Mixed Away Day

After cancelling our away day to Leigh last year due to bad weather, we made it this year and what a change in the weather.

It was a perfect day, the sun shone and 16 of us including 2 new ladies to the mixed, Janette and Fiona enjoyed the lovely course and meal.

The winning team included Paul Grundy, Roger Hornsby, Janette Smith and Gwyn Holt, well done.

Nearest the pin was Gwyn from the ladies and Mike Davies from the men.

Look forward to seeing as many if not more at The Mixed 9 hole end of the season on Sunday 18th November.
