Daily Mail Foursomes
The winning team in the summer knockout competition goes forward to the coutry wide Daily Mail Foursomes.
Karen Pennington and Sue Kendrick were last years winners and played their first round match on Sunday away at Styal.
Amazingly the course was open but very wet and muddy. After a close but friendly match Karen and Sue won on the eighteenth hole. They now go through to round two, well done.
On Tuesday evening Lady Captain, Yvonne presented the prize winners of 2017 with their trophies. Those who were present had their photos taken.
The final official duty of Lady Captain was to introduce and welcome the new Lady Captain for 2018, Mary O'Toole. Her LVC will be Julie Ricketts.
The new Lady President, Margaret Sumner was also welcomed.
Last Fling 2017
Sunday saw the last mixed competition of 2017 with a good turn out of members and guests playing 9 holes.
This was followed by an excellent meal provided by Chris and his staff.
After the meal, Mr Captain thanked everyone who had played and presented the winning team of Vice Captain, Simon Barber, Helen Fitch and Celia Berent ( with Brian Foden as the ghost ) with their prizes.
The runners up were Mr President, Dave Lee, Lady President, Valerie Hornsby, Lisa Burns and Brian Foden. Brian also won nearest the pin in two on the 9th.
Mr. Captain then presented the trophies to the winners of the Barbara Ames Competition. Congratulations to Mr President and Lady President who won on the 19th hole against John and Sue Kendrick after a very enjoyable match.
The evening finished with Mr Captain thanking Alison and John Roberts for organising the day and evening.

Bunty Booth Competition
Congratulations to Alison Roberts for winning the Bunty Booth competition with a score of 35points which in the very wet muddy conditions was a great score.
Alison will now play in the final at Lymm Golf Club on June 8th 2018.
Well done to Jo Pratt who came second with 32 points. Jo will be the reserve if Alison is unable to play.
The October Medal was also won by Alison scoring 80 points. On both days the CSS was 75 reflecting how difficult the course was playing.
