Captain’s Charity Day raises £4,300

I’d like to give my thanks and appreciation to all those who contributed to a very successful Captain’s Charity Day in support of my chosen charity Macmillan Cancer Support. We raised £4,300 on the day which is a fantastic achievement, and I’d like to congratulate Brian Foden for organising another incredibly successful day. Friday was Brian’s 22nd Captain’s Charity Day and he has raised over £85,000 in that time - a fantastic achievement.

My thanks also go to: all the players on the day for contributing to the golf, and for their generosity in the raffle and auction, all the individuals and companies who donated golf and raffle prizes and items for the auction, Chris Hoyland and the catering team and the greenstaff for preparing the course.

14 teams took part in a very enjoyable golf day and evening meal. The team prize winners were Trevor Rathbone (Vice Captain), Bill and Steve Bennett and Luke Foden.

I’ve set myself a target of raising £10,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support during my Captaincy year and my next fundraising event is a 72 golf hole challenge on Friday 22nd June starting at sunrise.  More information will be in another article on the website, but for those supporters who want to donate now, to help reach my event target of £2,500, I’ve set up a JustGiving page:
