Lady Captain's 54 Hole Charity Golf Challenge very successful

Alderley Edge Golf Club Lady Captain Janette Smith was delighted with the success of the 54-hole Charity Golf Challenge she organised and played in, along with other members of the club.  The event was a great way to raise funds towards her chosen charity - Shropshire, Staffordshire and Cheshire Blood Bikes.

On Friday 24 June, a glorious morning greeted the golfers as they prepared to tee off at 7.00 am.  Four of the players – Janette Smith (Lady Captain), Fiona Anderson (Lady Vice Captain), Wendy Harrison and Joe Bradbury were playing the whole 54 holes.  They were joined during the day by other club members who were playing as part of relay teams, playing 18 or 9 holes each.

The day was rounded off with a very enjoyable social evening and everyone enjoyed a well earned fish and chip supper.  Janette thanked all the golfers taking part in Challenge as well as the support and encouragement from members, friends and family and the AEGC staff involved on the day.

Janette said, “the event raised funds towards my target of £2000 for Shropshire, Staffordshire and Cheshire Blood Bikes. They are run 100% by volunteers and are used to courier urgent medical items, including blood, x-rays, transplant organs, human donor milk etc across the UK.

“I was very pleased that Nigel Howells, one of the riders for the Charity, was able to be there with his motorbike and talk to people about the great work that the charity achieves.

I am still hoping to raise more money through my Just Giving page.  If you wish to donate towards this charity, please follow the link below and share with others.”
