Golf and Giggle, Sunday 20 October 2013

A good time was had by all at the annual Golf and Giggle, with 21 pairs of golfers with non-golfing guests trying their luck over 9 holes. The winners with a net score of 39.5 were Mick Fleury and Amanda Mellor (pictured with Mr Captain), second were Paul Grundy and Charles Burr (40) edging Tom and Keith Winterbourne (also 40) into third place on a card play off.

Thanks to Simon Barber for organising the event and to Jenny and her team for providing the after-match catering.

Mixed Summer Outing

The Mixed Outing will be on SUNDAY 18th AUGUST to the Oaks, Mollington www.theoaksmollington.co.uk  located a couple of miles north of Chester. This is always a good day out, so please sign up as soon as possible to secure a place - the sign up sheet is in the foyer.

The cost is £66 per couple for 18 holes of golf and the evening meal, cheques payable to Alderley Edge Golf Club (NOT mixed). Please leave in a named envelope, marked  Mixed Outing, either in the safe near the bar or in the ladies locker room box. Partners from other clubs welcome!

The tee has been booked for a group of up to 28 of us from 1pm onwards, meeting at 12 noon, which will give us time to have some lunch if we wish. There will be a two course meal and prize presentation after we have played.
Thanks

Gwyneth Holt

Jubilee Trophy Mixed Open

Competing against a Wimbledon Men's Final featuring Andy Murray was always going to be challenging - however a small but enthusiastic field of both members and visitors enjoyed proper sunny weather and high temperatures in the Greensome Stableford Mixed competition . Victorious with 37 points was team Kendrick, with the highest scoring visitor prize going to Bill and Margaret Russell from Grange Park Golf Club, St Helen's. Other prize winners were Anne and Mike Thornber, Karen and Brian Pennington and Ally and John Forster.

Archie Preston

After a satisfying home win against last year's victors, Tytherington, the wind and Pikefold's effective team got the better of the mixed team, and we unfortunately lost .... It was very regrettable as it is a good competition to participate in. Better luck next year everyone
