CENTENARY CUP - June 29th

This competition is now in its eighth year, and despite being open to every member drew in a select field of merely thirty three players competing for the honour of their name on the 'Board', which was a pity as it was a closely fought match with some good scores posted. Winner was Chris Edwards, with a fine score of 65 nett, second Ronnie Ricketts and third Jan Cichocki.Sadly none of the six ladies playing appeared on the winners sheet, even with the helpful extra four shots....

Maybe next year everyone? Watch out for the notices and the emails.

Dunscar Outing

Well, it was a windy one!! The mixed had a great day out on the Lancashire hills, enjoying the view and wildlife (did anyone else see the deer?) but came back well blown around, but dry! The Exchange was a great success with Dunscar enjoying the hospitality and course here at Alderley, despite the 7th doing its usual lake impression. Winners were Paul and Yvonne Grundy on a card countback from second place John and Sue Kendrick, with the Presidents Celia and Charlie just missing out. The vaguely confusing golf card bingo prize went to Olwen and Mike Davies.....the rules will be sorted for next time, I promise!

Thank you to all who supported and please put the date for the Mixed Open in your diary (Sunday August 17th) and the trip to Frodsham (Friday 19th September).

SPRING SURPRISE

A very social afternoon was enjoyed by a small number of those of us who participate in the mixed - you missed a good time, the rest of you! A complex greensomes formula allowing for some bonus points opportunities, as well as the chance to get one over on your playing partners made for an interesting game. Victorious were Ali and John Roberts with a creditable 39 points, runners up were Andy and Gwyn Holt, with Rob Booth scooping the Easter Egg prize for nearest the pin.

We really encourage anyone to come and join us in the mixed - ladies, we will find you a partner!

Early bath from the Archie Preston Knockout

There was optimism that with a home draw against Regent Park GC, Alderley might have been able to repeat last year's successful start to the competition (when we beat Tytherington). The rain dried, the wind dropped and the sun shone, but sadly, not on the Alderley players, who despite a close finish, lost out 4-3. There was a great atmosphere - as always at mixed events, and the photo is testimony to the good team spirit of both sides..

DIARIES OUT!

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The dates for this year's mixed events are now posted in the foyer, and are also in the 'Welcome' section for the Mixed on the web-site. We look forward to enthusiastic participation from as many members as possible, new and not so new!
