Barbara Ames Winners

Fourteen pairs competed for the Barbara Ames Rosebowls in the mixed foursomes this season and victors were Helen and Simon Edwards, who beat Olwen and Mike Davies on the nineteenth hole in the final. Simon put his victory down to Charles the pro convincing him to purchase some new clubs...., and the rest, they say, is history! They thanked all their opponents for what had often been close matches, then posed for the prizewinner's photo...

Winter Mixed 2014

There was a fabulous turn out of familiar and new faces for the final mixed event of 2014. To make things even better the sun shone, and although wellies would have been the preferred footwear, all the teams just about got round before it was too dark. Playing an Am Am format, (with a twist, would it ever be any different?), some good scores were posted. Equal fourth, and just receiving a mention, were the teams of The Captains, Lady President and Mark Walker, The Roberts/Booth fourball and the Moss/O'Toole fourball all with a creditable 39 points. In the prizes at third place were Olwen and Mike Davies and Bill and Marge Padfield on 40 points and second prize to Paul and Madeline Kubiak and Mike Troup and Sue Watson with 41 points on a six hole count back from Gwyn and Andy Holt and Karen and Brian Pennington.

Margaret Sumner and Mr Captain scooped the twos, and John Roberts won a spot prize for the most cheerful shirt

Thanks to Marks and Spencer for the prize table, but sorry Anne LC, the photo didn't quite pass quality control so you will have to use your imagination for the picture of the prizewinners!

Looking forward to a good season again next year, and thanks everyone for your support.

Gwyn and Andy Holt
