Barbara Ames Winners

Fourteen pairs competed for the Barbara Ames Rosebowls in the mixed foursomes this season and victors were Helen and Simon Edwards, who beat Olwen and Mike Davies on the nineteenth hole in the final. Simon put his victory down to Charles the pro convincing him to purchase some new clubs...., and the rest, they say, is history! They thanked all their opponents for what had often been close matches, then posed for the prizewinner's photo...

Winter Mixed 2014

There was a fabulous turn out of familiar and new faces for the final mixed event of 2014. To make things even better the sun shone, and although wellies would have been the preferred footwear, all the teams just about got round before it was too dark. Playing an Am Am format, (with a twist, would it ever be any different?), some good scores were posted. Equal fourth, and just receiving a mention, were the teams of The Captains, Lady President and Mark Walker, The Roberts/Booth fourball and the Moss/O'Toole fourball all with a creditable 39 points. In the prizes at third place were Olwen and Mike Davies and Bill and Marge Padfield on 40 points and second prize to Paul and Madeline Kubiak and Mike Troup and Sue Watson with 41 points on a six hole count back from Gwyn and Andy Holt and Karen and Brian Pennington.

Margaret Sumner and Mr Captain scooped the twos, and John Roberts won a spot prize for the most cheerful shirt

Thanks to Marks and Spencer for the prize table, but sorry Anne LC, the photo didn't quite pass quality control so you will have to use your imagination for the picture of the prizewinners!

Looking forward to a good season again next year, and thanks everyone for your support.

Mixed Winter Comp - Sunday 23rd November

The final formal Mixed event of this year, after which we award the hotly contested prize for the Barbara Ames Knockout will be held on Sunday November 23rd.

Tee times have been blocked out on BRS so please sign in from 1.30pm onwards

This year the format will be a team event over 9 holes, 4BBB, so if you wish to join us and don't have a partner, please just sign up and we'll try to do some matchmaking!

Details of the event will be set out on the Mixed area of the noticeboard in the foyer, along with a sign up for the meal.  Should any non-players want to come along to join the socialising they would be made most welcome - again, sign up in the foyer

Any queries or problems, please contact Andy and Gwyn Holt. Thanks

Frodsham Outing September 19th

Just a reminder that the list is up in the foyer for the Mixed Trip to Frodsham Golf Club on Friday 19th September. There are only a few places available so please check your diaries and sign up swiftly if you would like to enjoy a day out at this lovely course.

Jubilee Trophy 2014

With the showers and gusty wind Sunday presented tricky conditions for the Mixed Open/Invitation Jubilee Trophy.  Nevertheless, visitors and home players alike enjoyed the day and mostly avoided getting too wet in the brief showers. Winners on 36 points were the organisers, Andy and Gwyn Holt, with Mike and Olwen Davies taking second place and Wendy Rule and her guest John Sellwood third. Highest scoring visitors were Julie Slater and her playing partner Duncan Heywood from Grange Park GC, St Helens with nearest the pin prizes to Paul Grundy and Gwyneth Holt.
