Jubilee Trophy - Sunday 30th July

Alderley welcomed members, guests and visitors to the club to compete for the Jubilee Trophy on Sunday 30th July. There were 20 teams. The day was a mixture of rain showers, heavy at times but still a pleasant day. There were some good scores.

1st Visitors Prize- Andrew/Rebecca Gray 41pts (from Wychwood Park/ Haydock Park), 1st A.E.G.C/Guest - Wendy Rule/ Roger Smith 39pts (Didsbury), 2nd A.E.G.C/Guest - Ron Ricketts/ Sue Carless 35pts (Bramall Park), 3rd Visitors - Sonia/ Roy Sales 34pts (Vale of Llangollen). There were a number of twos; Tracy McGregor @13th, Duncan Haywood, Wendy Higgins and Sonia Sales @ 15th and Wendy Rule and Simon Conway @6th.

We were delighted to see so many familiar faces and new ones who had come some distance and it will be great to see you next year!

Spring Surprise

It was good to welcome a few new faces to the 'Mixed' fold and we all enjoyed a sunny afternoon and a lovely meal after - thank you Chris. The team competition was hotly contested - second place going to Olwen and Mike Davies and Barbara and Graham Moss with 96 points and winners were Brian Foden, Lisa Burns and Sue and John Kendrick with 99 points. Brian Foden sneaked the nearest the pin and Andy Holt and Celia Berent got balls for their 2's. The surprise was that there was plenty of chocolate for both the prizes and on the table....! The draw for Barbara Ames was made with some interesting looking matches being pulled out of the hat. First round matches have to be completed by 15th May please.

Mixed Final Fling

There were a lot of people absent from the final event of the Mixed calendar, but it did not stop those of us who turned out having an enjoyable time in pretty good weather. The team competition was closely fought, with runners up Paul and Yvonne Grundy and Mo Monk with their ghost Mike Davies and Ali and John Roberts with Jean Walker and Brian Boughey both posting a respectable 38 points, but first prize went to Pete Wood, Celia Berent, Karen and Brian Pennington with 39 points. Well done Pete, for being player of the year and more or less taking the prizes in nearly all the events - fair enough really as Mr Captain has been an excellent supporter of the mixed over the last two years, and long may it continue! (although there may have to be some handicap considerations if this fine seam of form continues....!)

The Barbara Ames Trophy winners were Julie and Ron Ricketts, away in America, and the runners up Mr and Lady President were awarded wtih their prize too.
